You know what’s coming upcoming – my awards for top rated artists in the show.  As a good juror, I can use my skilled eye from the thumbnails and website visits to award the Campello awards.

For the painters I liked  Zhiyi Li (from Enfield, CT) in Booth #66, and Thomas Williams (from Chicago, IL) in Booth #78.

All three printmakers in the demonstrate are excellent — I’ve published a great deal about Joseph Craig English from Washington Grove, MD (Booth #84) – in this exhibit John Pernell and Michael Nemnich are also really superior.

For Mixed Media, my prime pick was Sandra Sedmak Engel, whose sensual work is a satisfaction both to the eye and the eros that outside displays usually test to eradicate.

There are a lot of talented photographers in the show. See them all below. James Richmond from Titusville, Florida (Booth #76) went to Cuba and has the necessary pictures of old 1950s cars in Havana, as I recognize that the Cuban dictatorship will not allow for travelers (and photographers specially) to depart from the jailed island until evidence is offered at the airport that images of the classic automobiles have been taken.

Pet peeve apart, Richmond has an excellent eye for capturing the grace that is human type, all the way from Portuguese card players in Outdated Europe to lovely indigenous females in Panama, to Cuban farmers in the brutalized Castro Brothers’ Staff Paradise.

It is a wonderful photograph, capturing the essence of the Cuban guajiro, his ancient Basque bloodlines nevertheless really cleaning jogging via his veins as evidenced by the telltale ear lobe, a wide smile for the American vacationer on his skinny lips, and a hand-rolled Habano in his mouth, the envy of each and every smoker millionaire all-around the world.

In the class of sculpture, Tanya Tyree caught my attention as her sculptures struggle in between gifted efficiency and a bit of whimsy. What is obvious is a straight and one of a kind vision being sent by the (I suspect) incredibly powerful and skilled arms of this artist.

And the Campello decide for Very best in Present?

It goes to painter Cassie Taggart from Rehoboth, DE in Booth #51.

Even though everyone can immediately see that Taggart’s perform investigate surrealism, what she has brilliantly done is to deliver a new 21st century variation of surrealism, wherever her experienced painting abilities marry it with fantasy, and the fantastical (which is diverse) as properly as a wholesome dose of narrative storytelling.

It is “otherworldly” artwork deeply anchored in information which life concealed in our ancestral brain.  This is operate which the moment you buy it and hold it in your house, will dominate anything else which you have hung on all those partitions.

Go exterior and see some artwork this weekend, talks to artists and artisans, try to eat some bad-for-you meals and listen to some outside music.
