Women ‘interlace’ art, friendship in new exhibit at Medina Library

MEDINA, Ohio — A new art display titled “Interlaced Art” opened Monday (Aug. 1) in the B. Smith Gallery on the third ground of the Medina Library, 210 S. Broadway.

The seven artists whose functions are exhibited belong to a group of friends identified as Females in Art. In accordance to Barbara Johns, a member of the team, “We are all attempting to emphasis our power on producing our art — at any age. We’re not younger.”

Member Pleasure Amos included: “We ended up all friends before we bought jointly as artists our lives have blended.”

To demonstrate the title of the demonstrate, member Teenia Geig-Koehler wrote: “The 7 women represented in this show fulfilled above the many years by way of our mutual curiosity in the creative arts. Even though we are wonderful mates, we also are folks with one of a kind quirks and personalities.

“Our respect for each individual other’s quirks, the longevity of our friendship and our devoted care for just about every other has led to an intertwining of our lives. We each and every create individually, still for the reason that of our friendships we are affected, in lifestyle and in artwork, by each other.

“Look intently at the artwork just before you. You will see our variations, and you will see our similarities. Like threads in the pretty tapestry of daily life, we are interlaced alongside one another.”

The seven females whose work is represented are Pleasure Amos, Deanna Clucas, Teenia Geig-Kohler, Barbara Johns, Gail Martonicz, Helga Reid, and Darlene Younger.

The artwork is a mixture of distinct media — there are watercolors, acrylics, fiber art, colored pencil, pen and ink, and combined media parts. Many of the functions are influenced by mother nature some are whimsical, some critical. Nearly all are offered for purchase.

The clearly show is open up throughout standard library several hours until eventually Aug. 28 and is perfectly well worth the climb or elevator experience.
