Emotion in Poetry: Oxymoron

Oxymoron is not a way to simply call any one a title. In actuality, oxymoron is the poetic unit that means the use of contradictory terms (together) for outcome. A Handbook to Literature states that etymologically the term indicates “pointedly foolish,” that it provides jointly two contradictory conditions that contrast to make sharp emphasis. Examples include cheerful pessimist, clever idiot, unhappy pleasure, eloquent silence, living demise, bittersweet, burning cold, glad mourning.

As with any poetic device, one can use it to include to the imagery of a poem. With a little bit of planning, the imagery created by oxymoron can increase the emotion, too.

Let us examine how an oxymoron can heighten the emotion of a poem. We could generate the pursuing line of poetry: The lady, so racked with soreness, could not make a sound. Fairly drab is just not it? Where’s the emotion essential to make the reader “sense” her discomfort?

Let us see what can happen with an oxymoron with the exact plan:

The pain remaining her very little but silent screams

As it twisted her physique with countless agony.

If you discovered, the first line also had alliteration in the oxymoron, silent screams.

I essentially applied a variation of silent screams in a poem.

Cry for Enable

Dreary, drab day pressing in on me

right until like grey, gloomy clouds crammed

to saturation, my tears overflow.

I silently scream for aid

That by no means would seem to appear.

A very small ray of sunshine would elevate

the load of sorrow that threatens

to swamp my sorrowing soul.

Oh, for the storm to section sufficient

to enable that ray shine on me.

Aid me, be sure to support me stand up to

this large, bloated load

urgent on my weary head.

Be sure to give me relief that

only You have at any time brought.

Wrap me in Your convenience,

wrap me in Your like

until I can stand and view

the dawn split the day

with pleasure and thanksgiving after extra.
