Garth Crooks has tipped Manchester City to win the Premier League title over Liverpool if Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling can remain fit and in top form.

Writing on BBC Sport, the former Tottenham star claimed that the race for the English championship, as well as a spot in the UEFA Champions League final, could be decided by the fitness of De Bruyne and Sterling, who were stunning in City’s 2-0 win against Burnley.

The Premier League title race is set to go down to the wire, with City and Liverpool set to battle it out next weekend in what is being billed as one of the biggest games of the season as just one point separates the two sides.

However, despite Liverpool’s insane form in 2022, Crooks is still tipping City to win both the title and reach the Champions League final if both De Bruyne and Sterling stay fit, with the duo two of the best players in world football this season.

The BBC pundit said: “The link between Raheem Sterling and De Bruyne looked rather menacing against a totally outclassed Burnley. If these two can remain fit City must be odds-on favourites to retain the title and reach the Champions League final.”

The race for both the title and the Champions League could well be tested between City and Liverpool, yet for the Manchester giants, they will need more than just the form of Sterling and De Bruyne if they’re to beat Jurgen Klopp’s side to either piece of silverware.

Indeed, the Reds have as much quality in their strongest XI than City, and whilst Sterling and De Bruyne are world-class players, Liverpool can match these two on the field with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Thiago Alcantara.
